Dr. Charles Welch, President of the Arkansas State University System.

Arkansas State University’s System President says a lot of lessons have been learned after two internal audits led to the resignation of former Chancellor Dr. Tim Hudson.  Dr. Chuck Welch addressed faculty and talked about the situation for almost 20 minutes.  He says universities are not required to do internal audits, but after receiving a tip in March, he says auditors began their investigation.

Dr. Hudson resigned earlier this month after it was revealed that he allegedly tried to use his position to get some financial assistance for a family member to attend the New York Institute of Technology.  Another audit involved the university’s study abroad program and Hudson’s wife, Deidra.

Dr. Welch says while the outcomes were unfortunate, the internal audits worked like they should have.  Click on the Listen button to hear the story.
