On Friday, May 19th we will be hosting an author event in the Round Room. The event starts at 5:30PM and will be followed by a general Q&A session. All are welcome to attend. The visiting author will be Thanhhà Lại, a Vietnamese-American children's author who has won a National Book Award and a Newbery Honor for her debut novel, "Inside Out & Back Again". Thanhhà will be on a book tour in May to promote the sequel to her debut novel, "When Clouds Touch Us", and will be discussing her work and life experience as a Vietnamese refugee.
On Saturday, May 20th we will be holding our first Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival! The festival will be held from 10AM to 2PM. We'll have art and food vendors, as well as fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. There will be karate and jiu jitsu sessions, a cosplay contest, and more!

The Arkansas Environmental Education Association and the Arkansas Master Naturalists are combining our love of the Natural State with our goals for education and conservation at a joint conference, June 6 & 7, in Eureka Springs. The hands-on workshops, breakout sessions, and field experiences are great professional learning and networking opportunities for classroom teachers, non-formal educators, college students, naturalists, and conservation professionals from across the state. An event for both local veterans and the public at large, raising awareness of local veterans organizations and other resources for veterans. Event will include live music, car show, food trucks and other vendors. Admission is free to the public from 8am until 4pm. Registration of car show entries will be from 8am until noon and will be $10.

Roy Wiles Post 1991 Veterans of Foreign Wars & the Jonesboro Elk’s Lodge 498 will gather to commemorate and honor the memory of the 2,996 innocent people, firefighters, Police and other first responders murdered and killed in New York City, the Pentagon, and Shanksville Pennsylvania in the deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil in U.S. history by 19 cowardly militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda against targets in the United States. This is a day of solemn reflection, honor and respect, not a day of celebration, cookouts and games. Please join us to honor those brave men and women who gave their all.

Rose-Helene Spreiregen, Holocaust Survivor and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum volunteer, will be BRTC’s 19th Annual Holocaust Survivor Series guest speaker. This year’s event will be virtual. It will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 19.
