Upgrade work on I-555 in Jonesboro that has been held up for two weeks because of weather is scheduled to begin Thursday morning, March 26.
Aaron Vowell of the Arkansas Department of Transportation said a lane closure will be set up in the southbound lane and continue Friday before being restarted Monday.
Initial work will be strengthening a 10-foot paved shoulder and extending it to 14 feet to support traffic while renovation is done on existing lanes.
The project will be done in two-mile stretches and eventually will reconstruct more than four miles in each direction in Jonesboro.
