What Is Next For Dr. Ruth Hawkins?

Arkansas State University

This is A-State Connections!  I'm Johnathan Reaves.  What’s Next?  That is the focus on this final interview segment that I conducted with Dr. Ruth Hawkins. Her retirement from Arkansas State University will take place at the end of the month and I wanted to know what the next step was for her.  Before that, I asked her if any of the Heritage Sites that she helped developed were her favorite.  Click on the Listen button for the entire interview.

Dr. Ruth Hawkins on KASU.  A retirement reception will be held for Dr. Hawkins on Friday, June 28th at from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Arkansas State University Cooper Alumni Center in Jonesboro.

Johnathan Reaves is the News Director for KASU Public Radio. As part of an Air Force Family, he moved to Arkansas from Minot, North Dakota in 1986. He was first bitten by the radio bug after he graduated from Gosnell High School in 1992. While working on his undergraduate degree, he worked at KOSE, a small 1,000 watt AM commercial station in Osceola, Arkansas. Upon graduation from Arkansas State University in 1996 with a degree in Radio-Television Broadcast News, he decided that he wanted to stay in radio news. He moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas and worked for East Arkansas Broadcasters as news director and was there for 16 years.
