A list of proposed projects has been presented to the public by representatives of Team Jonesboro.  Several community members gave the public ideas on what could be presented to the Oversight Integrity Council as part of a sales tax proposal.  Between 92 and 115-million-dollars-worth of “quality of life” projects were presented.  Public safety improvements for the Jonesboro Police Department and the Jonesboro Fire Department are estimated between 87 and 99-million-dollars.  Here is a list of the ideas for possible quality of life projects:

The CVS Pharmacy robbery in Jonesboro on June 21 may have been connected to a string of gang-related robberies that began in Indiana.

On Tuesday, the Jonesboro Police Department released more details about the robbery.  Two people were held hostage during the robbery.  Witnesses said the suspects were 3 males between 15 and 17 years old and dressed in dark-colored hoodies.

Work will start soon on a convention center in Jonesboro.  

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin told the Jonesboro City Council last night that construction work on a hotel and convention center on the campus of Arkansas State University will start in February.  The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotion Commission has received paperwork that included information about when construction will start and when it is expected to be complete.

Cpl. Dave McDaniel has been named as the new Public Relations Officer for the Jonesboro Police Department.  Cpl. McDaniel has been with JPD for 19 years and has previously served as a detective.  His most recent assignment was with the Patrol Division where he worked on first shift patrol and was a field training officer.  He is also a certified law enforcement instructor.

The Jonesboro Police Department has requested activation of a Silver Alert.  James A. Whiteside was last seen July 26th.  

He is from Jonesboro and is 80 years old.  He is 5'10" and weighs 220 pounds.  He may be traveling in a Blue 2009 Toyota Yaris.
