JONESBORO, Ark. (3/13/19) – Arkansas State Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir announced Wednesday that Brian Boyer’s contract as head women’s basketball coach is not being renewed for the 2019-20 season.

Over the past couple of editions of A-State Connections, you have been learning from students with Red Wolves for Red Wolves that have been working with Arkansas State, and other local, state, and national partners to save the American Red Wolf.  Today, we talk to two experts in the field.  Regina Mossotti is the Director of Animal Care and Conservation at the Endangered Wolf Center in St. Louis Missouri.

This week, we hear from another Arkansas State University student about the university’s involvement in saving the American Red Wolf.  The Red Wolf is an endangered species and is also the mascot for Arkansas State University.  A student organization has been formed called Red Wolves for Red Wolves.  The student president of the club is Shayn Goodling.  In an interview condudcted over the summer, he tells KASU News Director Johnathan Reaves why he was part of the group.  He will give an update on this fall's activities in a few weeks on the Create@State podcast.  Click on the Listen button

A student organization on campus has been formed to help in conservation efforts of the American red wolf.  The red wolf is an endangered species.  Arkansas State University and the organization called Red Wolves for Red Wolves is working with state and federal officials across the country in research and outreach efforts to preserve red wolves.  The organization has previously worked at the Endangered Wolf Center in St.

It’s a time-honored tradition—a graduating class of students, grateful for the education and the experience they obtained, give back to their campus community. 

But, as education gets pushed into the 21st century, some of the students that universities get are attending classes online and graduating—even at Arkansas State University.  So, just like physical students, online students obtain an experience and, in the case of the graduating summer class of 2018, want to give back to their alma mater.

But, how?

2018 is the 10th anniversary of the Arkansas State University Indians becoming the Red Wolves—a highly endangered species.  After 10 years, what has changed? Brandon Tabor with A-State Connections takes a look at where the name red wolves came from and how the university has been impacted since then.  

2008 was my first semester as an Arkansas State graduate student.

Later this month, Arkansas State University will host the national organization that manages efforts to increase the population of red wolves.  The Red Wolf Species Survival Plan will hold a conference at the ASU System Office in Little Rock July 23rd through the 25th.   This is designed to talk about how to protect and breed red wolves that are in captivity.  ASU System Vice President for Strategic Communications and Economic Development Jeff Hankins says the situation is dire.

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State University's athletics department has received about $10 million in donations to renovate Centennial Bank Stadium.

The Jonesboro Sun reports that a more than $5 million gift from John W. Allison to the Red Wolves Foundation was announced during a Board of Trustees meeting in Jonesboro.

Allison is the founder and chairman of the parent company of Centennial Bank, which currently has naming rights to the football stadium.

JONESBORO – The annual Order of the Pack student spirit event is rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 14, with the University of Miami Hurricanes’ cancellation of this Saturday’s game.

The 21st annual event will now precede what will be the home opener, the game with UAPB on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce has also rescheduled its annual Big Great A-State Tailgate to Friday, Sept. 15, in downtown.

The Big Ten Network announced Tuesday that it will televise the Arkansas State football team’s 2017 season opener Sept. 2 at Nebraska with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.

The ASU Red Wolves have a new Men's Basketball head coach.

Arkansas State University is looking for a new men's basketball coach after Grant McCasland resigned Monday.  McCasland is now the men's basketball coach for the North Texas Mean Green.  .  McCasland was 20 and 12 overall and 11 and seven in the Sun Belt Conference as the Red Wolves head men’s coach.

A-State Football Accepts Cure Bowl Invitation

JONESBORO, Ark. (12/4/16) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Sunday that its Sun Belt Conference champion football team has accepted an official invitation to play in the 2016 AutoNation Cure Bowl presented by Florida Hospital on Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. (CT), when it will face American Athletic Conference member UCF.

The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Monday that ESPN2 will broadcast the Red Wolves’ final regular-season football game, a Dec. 3 Sun Belt Conference contest at Texas State.

With the addition of national television, the outing at Bobcat Stadium is now set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. (CT).  A-State will be making its second appearance this season on ESPN2, but has also seen three contests televised on ESPNU, one on the SEC Network, one on CBS Sports Network and four on ESPN3.

The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Monday that ESPN3 will broadcast the Red Wolves’ final non-conference football game of the regular season, a Sept. 24 home contest against Central Arkansas that is set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.

JETS Red Wolf Express Schedule for A-State, Toledo Game

  The JET RED WOLF EXPRESS is back this weekend for the A-State vs. Toledo game on Friday, September 2. If you don’t want the hassle of dealing with stadium parking, you can park downtown and ride the express.  

Simply park your vehicle downtown and JET can shuttle you to and from the game. JET buses will unload passengers at the Northwest corner of the Centennial Bank Stadium just outside Gate 11 in accordance with instructions from the A-State Athletic Department.
