Jonesboro police say a catalytic converter has been stolen from a truck parked at a business on Gee Street.
KAIT reports the $500 part was stolen from a 2006 Ford F-450 parked at Metro PC. The theft is among hundreds of catalytic converter thefts that have occurred in the city since 2020.
Police have yet to arrest anyone associated with the thefts.
A bill in the Arkansas House sponsored by state Representative Johnny Rye (R-Trumann) was introduced earlier this year to address catalytic converter thefts.
It has been referred to committee, but there are no other plans for the bill, which requires additional information and tracking when selling or buying catalytic converters.
