Nova Safo

Reporter and Host, Marketplace

Nova Safo is a senior reporter at Marketplace covering breaking news and how the pandemic has affected the economy, business and personal finances. In addition, he is a lead voice for "Marketplace Minute," a 60-second update that highlights the most important stories of the day about business and the economy.

Nova has worked with Marketplace since 2014 and officially joined the newsroom in 2020. Before that, he was a Chicago-based correspondent for the international news wire service Agence France-Presse covering Middle America. Nova’s more than 20 years of experience in journalism also took him to CNN Radio, NPR and Yahoo News, among other outlets.

Nova first stepped foot in a radio station as a preschooler when his mom, Zabel, was a news broadcaster in Yerevan, Armenia. Nova received a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California, graduating with honors. He currently splits his time between Central California and Los Angeles, where he broadcasts out of Marketplace's headquarters in downtown LA.
