Arkansas Roots is a radio program celebrating the music of Arkansas musicians past and present in a variety of musical genres. Arkansas Roots features songs by Arkansans as well as songs by musicians scheduled to perform at venues in the KASU listening area. The hosts of Arkansas Roots also inform listeners of upcoming performances and concerts.
KASU welcomes submissions of recorded songs by Arkansas musicians for consideration for inclusion in Arkansas Roots. Music submitted should
- Be recorded by musicians with direct ties to the state of Arkansas
- Have a wide-appeal, able to be enjoyed by a broad audience of people
- Be professionally recorded and having technical standards appropriate for radio broadcast
- Demonstrate exceptional musical talent
Recordings should be submitted to KASU Program Director Marty Scarbrough. CDs may be mailed to P.O. Box 1930, State University, AR 72467. Or, links for digital downloads may be sent to mscarbro@astate.edu. If emailing mp3 files, please attach only one file per email message.
KASU requests that musicians and bands who submit music for consideration for broadcast also submit biographical information about themselves.
If you are a musician or venue, KASU invites you to submit information regarding upcoming musical performances. Details of such concerts may be submitted in a private message through the Arkansas Roots Facebook page or via email to mscarbro@astate.edu.
KASU requests that such information be submitted at least two weeks prior to the concert to ensure it is included. And, venue operators, KASU asks for your assistance in encouraging musicians who are scheduled to perform at your venue to provide recordings of their music to the station for broadcast on Arkansas Roots.
When available and appropriate, songs by those performers will be played in the days leading up to their concert.
KASU reserves the sole right to determine which music is featured on the Arkansas Roots radio program.
