Third Day's Mac Powell discusses the ingredients of his musical 'gumbo' and concert with friends

Mac Powell was the lead singer of the now defuncted Christian group Third Day. Powell joins artists Mike Donehey, Josh Baldwin, and David Leonard for a cross country concert that kicks of at Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro, AR.

Mac Powell, for years, sang lead for the Grammy-award winning Christian rock band Third Day. Following the band's farewell tour in 2018, Powell has been keeping busy on other projects, including a cross country tour with artists Mike Donehey, Josh Baldwin, and David Leonard.

Powell spoke to Arkansas Roots' Marty Scarbrough ahead of their concert which kicks off in Jonesboro at Central Baptist Church. Powell also talks about his musical inspiration.

Marty Scarbrough has worked at KASU since 1992, and he serves as program director, overseeing the station’s content. Marty is a graduate of Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, and he has produced and hosted programs of classical music, jazz, bluegrass, and blues music. He also oversees KASU’s Bluegrass Monday concert series. When not at work, Marty loves spending time with his wife and his three sons, and he enjoys attending concerts of many different styles of music.
A Northeast Arkansas native from Wynne, I’ve been involved with radio for about 15 years. I got my Bachelor of Arts degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, where I also served as an award-winning News Director for 2 years at KSWH-LP.
