NPR's Andy Bowers reports from Russia on the appointment of Anatoly Chubais ((chew-BY-iss)) to lead Russia's economic reforms. Chubais has been Russian President Yeltsin's Chief-of-Staff and a key player in the Kremlin while Yeltsin was recovering from heart disease, by-pass surgery and bout with pneumonia. Chubais first gained notice as the man who ran Russia's privatization program after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He also is given credit for engineering Yeltsin's succssful re-election last summer (2:15).
