President-Elect Joe Biden’s decision to nominate former Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen to be the next Treasury Secretary is significant for many reasons. If confirmed, she would be the first woman to hold that title, and she would run economic and financial policy at the White House during a time of unprecedented turmoil due to the pandemic.
