The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced this year's recipients for alternative transportation grant funding.
AR-DOT says that - in all - 47 Transpiration Alternatives Program projects and 12 Recreational Trails Program projects were funded statewide.
Some of the projects that received funding in Eastern Arkansas include Walkable West Memphis, the multi-purpose biking and walking trail for the Augusta School District, the Greenway Bike and Pedestrian Trail in Independence County, and Stewart Park in Walnut Ridge.
The funds go to support programs and projects that promote alternative means of transportation such as walking and biking trails.
