New details have been revealed in a stabbing at the Jonesboro Kroger earlier this week.

Court documents say that Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler on December 13 charged 45-year-old Donald Barrett of Jonesboro with first-degree battery for stabbing a 40-year-old man in the store on Sunday.

The man told police that he witnessed Barrett assaulting his wife in the store and got involved in the incident when Barrett stabbed him. Barrett later admitted to police that he assaulted his wife and stabbed the man. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Barrett was also charged with third-degree assault. He was released from jail later Monday afternoon on a $25,000 bond.
