Recent numbers from the Arkansas Department of Health show that over 500 Arkansans a year die by suicide. The United Health Foundation says males in Arkansas are more likely to carry out suicides than females…and one particularly disturbing trend is an increasing number of Black people who are taking their own lives. KASU’s Johnathan Reaves interviews counselor Shadun Duncan with Mid-South Health Systems. Duncan tells about some of the challenges Black people may face when dealing with a mental health crisis.
