24-Hour Pharmacies No Longer Exist in Jonesboro

24 hour pharmacies are now a thing in the past in Jonesboro. That after Walgreen's pharmacies stopped providing the service Monday. The latest some pharmacies are open is 10 p-m, with most closing much earlier.

The decision to cease the 24 hour pharmacy service was not made locally. KASU News requested an interview with Walgreens. Walgreens declined a radio interview. A Walgreens spokesman did release a statement to KASU News.

Here is the statement:

What we’ve been seeing in some areas is consistent with what many other healthcare entities have been experiencing – staffing challenges due to the ongoing labor shortage and ongoing demand for COVID-related services. As a result, there are some instances in which we’ve had to adjust or reduce pharmacy operating hours, as we work to balance staffing and resources in the market to meet the needs of our customers and patients.

No word whether this is temporary or permanent.
