Voters to Decide Library Funding November 8

Craighead County-Jonesboro Public Library

Craighead County voters will go to the polls in November that could decide the future of the Craighead County-Jonesboro Public Library. The library currently gets two mills through property taxes. The proposal would reduce it to one mill. Library Director Vanessa Adams says they have six million dollars in the bank, and it takes four million dollars a year to run eight branches and all the outreach programs the library has.

One of the citizens who filed the petition was State Senator Dan Sullivan. Speaking to KASU news as a citizen, not a state senator, Sullivan says the library should follow a state model…when there is a surplus, give it back to the people.
