ASU Museum to host 'Magnificent Me' traveling exhibit

Arkansas State University Museum will host the traveling exhibition, "Magnificent Me," from Saturday, May 5, through Oct. 20.

The free, interactive exhibit examines human systems including lungs, heart, muscles and bones.

While exploring and having fun with a variety of medical technologies, visitors will learn answers to questions such as, “Can my hand fool my brain? How does my brain ‘see’ a word? Do smells trigger memories?”

Among a variety of other activities, guests may learn intestine length by simply pulling a rope. And while sitting in the gas seat, participants may bounce up and down to build up gas pressure and then see what happens.

“Children of all ages wonder at the mysterious ways of the human body,” says Jill Kary, curator of education.  “In this hands-on exhibit, visitors will have loads of fun while learning answers to some of their unspoken questions.”

Magnificent Me is made possible in part by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, by a grant from the Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation, and by MedExpress Urgent Care.

ASU Museum is open Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
