An Arkansas State Distinguished Alumni has died. 80-year-old Charles Luter of Paragould was a proud supporter of A-State and education in his community. Luter graduated from A-State in 1966 with a degree in business administration.
He would become the president of Peoples Bank in Paragould and CEO of Spring River Bancshares, Inc. He also was chairman of Peoples Bank in Imboden and was director of First Delta Bank in Marked Tree.
In addition to those duties, he also served as regent of the Mid-South School of Banking, was president of the Arkansas Community Bankers Association and was state director of the Independent Bankers of America. He sponsored annual banquets for stellar high school graduates from Greene and Clay counties.

His family supported A-State in many ways, including a one million dollar gift in 2016, which included 250-thousand-dollars for a scholarship endowment to the College of Business.
He was appointed to the ASU Board of Trustees by then Governor Mike Beebe in 2011 and served for five years, including being chairman of the Board. In 2016, he was recognized by the ASU Board as Trustee Emeritus for his work on the Board of Trustees.
