3 Run for Vacant Alderman Position

City of Jonesboro

Three Jonesboro residents are seeking the vacant alderman position on the city council.

Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday told the Jonesboro Sun Thursday Phillip Cook, Joseph R Woodberry, and Bobby Edward Long were running for Ward 6, position 1.

Each candidate must collect the signatures of 30 registered Jonesboro voters by March 11th to appear on the ballot.  Holliday’s office is currently working to verify the signatures on the candidate’s petitions.

Candidates must also submit a statement of financial interest, a political practices pledge, and a notice of candidacy.  Those items can be picked up at the County Clerk’s office.

The Ward 6, position 1 seat was vacated by Alderman Tim McCall in early January after he announced his resignation for moving out of his ward.

A special election to fill McCall’s seat will be held May 10.
