Residents in Walnut Ridge and College City overwhelmingly approved a consolidation in yesterday’s special election. The new Walnut Ridge takes effect January first. Mayor Charles Snapp tells KASU News he is excited about the merger:
Snapp says one advantage to the consolidation is that it will bring Walnut Ridge’s population to above 5,000. He says that will help in attracting more businesses to Walnut Ridge:

Charles Snapp. Snapp says Walnut Ridge already provides College City with several services, such as water and sewer, police patrols, fire protection and mosquito control.
