This release from Arkansas State University.

Early Wednesday morning, April 8, an Arkansas State student was shot in the leg by an unknown assailant in the parking lot of Red Wolf Den Apartments.  The student was transported and is being treated at a local hospital for a non-life threatening wound.

University Police issued a campus lockdown during the night as they began their investigation to locate the assailant.  At 5 a.m., after ascertaining they did not believe there was a continuing threat to campus from the incident, the lockdown was lifted to allow employees to report to work and students to leave residence halls for breakfast.

UPD is reviewing security footage and has invited the Arkansas State Police to assist in the investigation.  If anyone in the community has information that may be of assistance, contact UPD at 870-972-2093.

As this is an active criminal investigation, no further information is available at this time.
