Applications taken for advisory committee to rename a road after Dr. Martin Luther King in Jonesboro

City of Jonesboro

The Jonesboro City Council on Tuesday’s City postponed a resolution to rename Johnson Avenue after the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to further study the issue. Therefore, Mayor Harold Perrin is taking submissions for a nine-person Unity Coalition Advisory Committee.

The Council voted to create the committee, charged with making a recommendation to present to Council by Sept. 17. Perrin said he wants the committee membership to comprise a diverse cross-section of the community. Submissions must be received by July 1.

Those interested in serving on the Unity Coalition Advisory Committee must be 18 or older and apply either through email at cglisson@jonesboro.org, clicking the link on the City website homepage (Jonesboro.org), or by letter to Unity Coalition Advisory Committee, PO Box 1845, Jonesboro AR 72403.

The application must include legal name, address, email address and telephone, as well as a resume listing experience or expertise that would benefit this committee.
