Arkansas Governor to tour tornado damage in Trumann as officials urge the public to stay away from work zones

Governor Asa Hutchinson will be in Trumann on Thursday as Northeast Arkansas communities continue to pickup after devastating tornadoes that ripped through the area at the end of last week.

Hutchinson is expected to meet with local leaders at 12:45 P.M. and tour tornado response efforts there, with a press conference expected at the Trumann Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, county emergency coordinators are asking people to avoid certain areas and to refrain from sightseeing damaged areas while cleanup continues.

Poinsett County Judge Randy Mills told KASU News that people should avoid areas around the nursing home, Main Street, and Wayne Street in Trumann. Contractors will need to seek authorization at the Trumann City Hall before working in the area.

Craighead County Emergency Management Coordinator Anthony Coy say to avoid the area around the Monette Manor Nursing Home and surrounding blocks.

Mississippi County Emergency Management Coordinator Wayne Reynolds is encouraging people to avoid the Leachville proper area.
