College of Agriculture Names Top Graduates during Convocation of Scholars

JONESBORO – The College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University recognized its outstanding students for the 2021-22 academic year during Convocation of Scholars, according to Dr. Mickey Latour, dean.

The Chancellor’s Scholar Award for the highest overall GPA in the college was presented to Jacob L. Holloway of Griffithville, who completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) degree with a major in agricultural business and a minor in plant and soil science.

The 4.0 Awards were presented to Daniel Shults of Searcy and Kassandra Riley of Jonesboro. The Chancellor's Scholar is the 4.0 student with the most credit hours completed at A-State.

The Outstanding Graduating Senior awards were presented as follows:

-- Matthew Blevins of Bradford, BSA, agricultural business;

-- Valerie Bowen of Piggott, BSA, animal science, pre-veterinary medicine; and

-- Zachary Lancaster of Lilbourn, Mo., BSA, plant and soil science, agronomy.

The Olen P. Nail Outstanding Junior Award was presented to Abby Moore of Beebe, an animal science major with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine and a minor in biological sciences.
