Perry Wilson presents Reed Middleton with the R.E. Lee Wilson Award

Reed Middleton, from Mariana, Arkansas, wins the 2022 R.E. Lee Wilson Award. The award is presented to the outstanding gradate of the university each year. The recipient exemplifies qualities of character, determination, involvement, and academic achievement.

This honor is bestowed in memory of R. E. Lee Wilson, a former member of the Board of Trustees of Arkansas State University, whose personal interest in the development of the university established a pattern for excellence. The award has been handed out since 1934.

The Distinguished Service Award recipients are selected from nominations by faculty, staff, and students. Honorees, among the university's outstanding citizens, are recognized for their scholarship, contributions to student life, and involvement in university activities. One Distinguished Service Award winner is selected as the Wilson Award recipient.

Blake Moore from Jonesboro, Arkansas
Jackson St. Pierre from Jonesboro, Arkansas

Sydney Wofford from Rector, Arkansas

Johnathan Reaves is the News Director for KASU Public Radio. As part of an Air Force Family, he moved to Arkansas from Minot, North Dakota in 1986. He was first bitten by the radio bug after he graduated from Gosnell High School in 1992. While working on his undergraduate degree, he worked at KOSE, a small 1,000 watt AM commercial station in Osceola, Arkansas. Upon graduation from Arkansas State University in 1996 with a degree in Radio-Television Broadcast News, he decided that he wanted to stay in radio news. He moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas and worked for East Arkansas Broadcasters as news director and was there for 16 years.
