Nettleton Baptist Church is offering to purchase the new fairgrounds location on Highway 49 North in Jonesboro.
Little Rock Attorney Rick Ramsey is the bankruptcy agent in charge of liquidating the property owned by the Craighead County Fair Association. Ramsey told the Jonesboro Sun the offer from the church has not been accepted yet.
Church senior pastor Stan Ballard told KAIT-TV they have previously purchased land along highway 49 to build a new church. Ballard said they will sell that land and purchase the district fairgrounds to build their new church if the offer is accepted.
Details on whether the district fair will continue as normal are still to be determined.
The Fair Association owes over $9.6 million dollars to various creditors for both the old and new fairgrounds.
